On March 25, 2025, Elsevier officially released the 2024 edition of the Highly Cited Chinese Researchers list. Professors Xia Guisong and He Fazhi from the School of Computer Science, Wuhan University, were once again honored, marking their fifth consecutive inclusion in this prestigious ranking.

The Highly Cited Chinese Researchers list, compiled by Elsevier using the globally authoritative Scopus citation database, evaluates and celebrates Chinese scholars' academic influence through rigorous analysis of their research contributions. This recognition not only reflects the dedication and scholarly rigor of Professors Xia and He in artificial intelligence and computer science but also exemplifies the university's commitment to excellence in research and innovation.
This year, the list features 6,388 scholars from 547 institutions across China, spanning 10 disciplines and 83 first-level academic categories under the Ministry of Education. Wuhan University ranked 9th nationwide with 116 scholars selected, an increase of six from the previous year.
