The School of Artificial Intelligence Holds Its First Academic Committee Meeting

On January 16, the School of Artificial Intelligence held its first Academic Committee meeting in Conference Room 930 of the Lei Jun Science and Technology Building. President Zhang Pingwen attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Bian Jinluan, Party Secretary of the School of Computer Science, read the official document establishing the Academic Committee of the School of Artificial Intelligence. Yang Zhijian, Deputy Director of the Wuhan Institute of Mathematics and Intelligent Research, was appointed as the first Chair of the Academic Committee. Bian Jinluan and Xia Guisong, Vice Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence, were appointed as Vice Chairs. Other committee members included Guo Yuzheng, Dean of the School of Power and Mechanical Engineering; Jia Peng, Director of the International Research Center for Space Full-Life Cycle Health; Ran Congjing, Head of the Department of Library Science at the School of Information Management; Yin Hao, Professor at the Medical Research Institute; as well as Professors Liu Weiwei, Xu Yongchao, and Wu Yu from the School of Computer Science. Additionally, Gao Weisong, Deputy Party Secretary of the School of Artificial Intelligence, along with Vice Deans Jiao Yuling and Hong Liang, and Professors Liu Juan, Yu Lei, Peng Min, and Hu Qiannan, were also appointed as committee members. President Zhang presented appointment certificates to the newly appointed members of the Academic Committee.

During the conference, President Zhang emphasized the importance of the Academic Committee and its crucial role in supporting disciplinary development. He also put forward six key requirements for all committee members.

The Academic Committee members suggested that the school enhance its future development planning through high-level talent recruitment, team building, interdisciplinary research, defining key focus areas, and leveraging its strengths to broaden the application of core technologies. They emphasized the need to integrate scientific research with talent cultivation to further advance the School of Artificial Intelligence. The meeting also reviewed topics related to talent recruitment. Participants engaged in thorough discussions regarding the construction and development of the school, offering valuable insights and suggestions.
